General rules:
- The player must have to be minimum in 18 years of age in order to receive the prize money
- Winning ticket has to be claimed within 180 days of the date on which ticket has been drawn or else the prize will be forfeited.
- Player has to choose the option of Cash Value or Annuity at the time they are playing instead of after winning the jackpot amount.
- There should be one signature per ticket
- One should not attempt to tape or glue the tickets which are torn before submitting the claim. It is advised to share the torn pieces instead
- Also, it is not advised to scribble out the information or use any “white-out” to cover the information written on the ticket
How proceeds are distributed?
62.5% of the total amount is contributed as the prize money to the winners, 27.5 % of the amount is paid out as the investment towards the public education sector, 5.4% is paid out as the commission to the retailers, 4.2% of the amount is used to cover all the administrative tasks and 0.4 % of the amount is sent to the Texas Legislature for the allocation.
How to claim the prize?
- Prize can be easily claimed at your nearby retailer’s location if the prize money is equal to or less than $599
- If the winning amount is between $1 to $2,50,000, then it can be claimed at any local Lottery Claim Center using a claim form which you can find on the official website. All the prizes which are paid out under the annuity option must be claimed from Texas Lottery Commission headquarters.
- You also have the option to claim the amount by mail if the prize money is in between $1 to $2,500,000 along with a claim form.
